Pakistan’s leading contemporary fashion house ‘Hira Ali Studios’ revealed its luxury prét collection “Woman Is Future” at the PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2018. The collection is a celebration of strong confident women who carve their own paths and despite the challenges and obstacles they face daily. Championing the rallying cry “Woman is Future”, the collection is a protest against the barriers that deny equality to women in all aspects of life.

The Inspiration

Sharing her inspiration behind the collection, Hira Ali, Creative Director at Hira Ali Studios said: “Strong, confident women, who challenge the status quo and refuse to be defined by pre-existing moulds inspire me. This collection is homage to and a celebration of women who have broken and continue to break the moulds holding them back. Hira Ali Studios is and always will be a brand that advocates for fundamental women’s rights and freedoms. I strongly believe women can and will be a catalyst for positive change and with this collection we want to inspire women to go out there and fight for their rights. We as a brand and I as an individual will always keep on fighting the good fight for equality of status for us women”

True to Hira’s philosophy of presenting reformist fashion, the collection presents silhouettes that are modern, to create fashion that does not limit wearers but rather harmonizes elegance and contemporary style.

The Design

“Woman Is Future” invites a selection of fabrics like Cottons, crepe, organza net. The embroidery comprises of experimental techniques using crystals and nets as well as silk threads and various beads and crystals. The color palette jumps from white reds to rose dust to ice blue and beige.

Talking about the aesthetics of the collection Hira Ali commented: “The collection by design is inspired by mythical creatures especially Gargoyles. It is the coming together of two opposites that on paper do not necessarily fit together but in fact do that has inspired me to create this collection. It is also a progression in my design where we started with Abstract creations to Minimal art and are now moving to a post minimal era where minimalism and abstract art [That are also opposite] will come together.”

The Show

The finale of the segment surprised all those in attendance as the models walked out with placard with women rights slogans. Hira Ali Studios with the demonstration showed its support for the Women's Movement as the crowd cheered the models on. Hira Ali is in process of forming a women in fashion collective that will work towards raising awareness on various issues women face in our society including the wage gap for domestic and factory workers. Simultaneously Hira Ali Studios will lend its voice to different charities and organisations that are helping women use their voice and place in society.
